    In part one of this two part series, I went over some of the history, from my personal perspective, of performance testing. In this section, I'll go over my experience from an actual test and let you know what you can expect from a Performance Assessment at Life Time Fitness. It's important to know that both members and non-members of Life Time can get a test, known internally as a Cardio Point Assessment. The member can schedule an appointment at the Fitness Services desk on the second floor and the non-member simply needs to call their nearby Life Time Fitness and ask for the Metabolic Specialist to schedule a convenient test time.

  17. Coach Troy's Ride Power File
    September 29, 2009
    Training with a power meter is a great way to take the guess work out of 'how hard' or 'how much' you're doing on the bike. Simply put, a weight lifter wouldn't do the bench press without knowing exactly how much weight is on the bar and how many sets and reps they are aiming to complete... or workload in a given workout.     Greetings and thanks for reading as I post bits and pieces of my training for my 'comeback' as a Masters athlete. Woohhooo!! :)

    Friday, Oct. 2 was scheduled to be my 'aerobic/muscular endurance' day on the bike. I had a 1 hr easy aerobic bike (Recovery zone) and 30 minute easy aerobic run the day before, so I was confident I'd have good legs going in the workout on Friday. . . .

    Anyone who has used my Spinervals Cycling and Runervals Treadmill training video workouts over the years knows that I'm a strong advocate of heart rate training and have been since the late 1980's. Knowing how the body is utilizes fuel and then training the various energy systems is critical for anyone who wants to achieve their fitness and competition goals. It's what the concept of 'training with a purpose' is all about and makes each workout more focused and effective. In Part I of this two part article series, I want to offer a summary of my experience in the field of performance testing simply to offer some personal perspective and to show how far the this service has come over the years.
