Coach Troy's Ride Power File
September 29, 2009
Training with a power meter is a great way to take the guess work out of 'how hard' or 'how much' you're doing on the bike. Simply put, a weight lifter wouldn't do the bench press without knowing exactly how much weight is on the bar and how many sets and reps they are aiming to complete... or workload in a given workout. In that same vein, a cyclist produces work in the measurable from of watts (power) when they ride a bike. . . . keep reading

Coach Troy Jacobson
Anyone who has used my Spinervals Cycling and Runervals Treadmill training video workouts over the years knows that I'm a strong advocate of heart rate training and have been since the late 1980's. Knowing how the body is utilizes fuel and then training the various energy systems is critical for anyone who wants to achieve their fitness and competition goals. Here's what our members are saying ...
Coach Troy:
I must thank you, once again! Thanks to your advice and amazing Spinervals training videos, I just finished my first Ironman event - Ironman Louisville! I currently live in Orlando and must do all of my training on a bike trainer and treadmill. Thanks to your videos and suggestions, I finished the event in under 16 hours and felt great afterwards (I was just hoping to finish)! I can't wait to do my next Iron event - shooting for Ironman Wisconsin 2010.
Thanks so much!
Kim F.
Ironman Finisher!
"I just purchased the "On The Road" Volume 1 DVD. My wife and I both tried
it and found it to be an excellent DVD. The visual of riding on the road
helps with the usual difficulty in sustaining indoor riding on a trainer.
We liked it so much that I went out to buy volume 2. I love this mode of
the spinervals videos."
E. Moyer
"Overall, I am now a much stronger and more efficient rider than I was just five months ago, thanks to your DVD series. I simply rotated through them all every four weeks."
Robert W.
Hummelstown, PA
"I can't say enough about how valuable your site and DVD of the Month Club has been for my performance. I look forward to receiving my new training workout each month!"
