GENERAL INFORMATION

OVERVIEW
Since 1995, Coach Troy has produced over 60 exercise videos for endurance athletes around the world. Our first 'Community' Spinervals was taped in 2003 and featured over 100 cyclists and triathletes from the Fort Wayne Indiana athletic community (Spinervals 21.0 -- Aero Base Builder IV). Then in 2005, the athletes from the Minnesota Cycling and Multisport Community 'upped the ante' by hosting a workout starring 200 local athletes in Spinervals 23.0 - Time Saver I (at the Plymouth LTF location)! In 2008, we shot three new workout DVDs featuring the athletes from the Freehold, NJ cycling community. Our goal is to produce a professional workout video while offering you, the athlete, a great workout and memorable video experience. Athletes from throughout the world will train to 'your' video for many years to come and you'll have a workout to commemorate your commitment and passion for cycling and fitness.

CALL TIMES AND START TIMES
We'll be video taping two workouts and you are invited to participate in one or both. EVERYONE is asked to participate in the first taping and we strongly encourage you to stay around for workout #2 (so bring a dry change of clothes!!). Each workout will be between 45-60 minutes in duration and will include several high intensity interval sets as well as lower intensity technique sets. Please be prepared to be on your trainer for at least two hours (with some breaks), if not more, due to the nuances of video production (lighting, audio, etc.). It's estimated that you'll burn between 700-900 calories during each workout - so come with a high energy level. All athletes of ALL ability levels are invited to participate and to exercise according to their personal fitness level. Have some fun!

Video Taping One: Call Time/1 pm, Start Time/2 pm. (All must attend.)

Video Taping Two: Start Time/ 3:30 pm. (To be completed around 5 pm.)

Successful video production of this nature is all about timing. In order to accomplish our goal of video taping workouts, we need to adhere to a very rigid schedule and we'll need your help in doing so.

Your "Call Time" (when you show up on location and get ready for your shoot) will be 60 minutes before we start the workout and rolling tape. PLEASE BE ON TIME because we'll be conducting interviews and introductions and will need you for this! It's very important that you arrive on time and are ready to go. If you are not in position when we start rolling, you will not be allowed to participate.

WHAT TO BRING AND WEAR
Riders may wear their team or club uniforms as this is a great opportunity to gain exposure for your club or team and sponsors. The organizers and producers maintain the right to ask a rider to change jerseys should they deem a jersey to be offensive to any groups or competitive to the Spinervals brand or for any other reason.

Bring comfortable indoor cycling clothing, your bike and your indoor trainer (Fluid trainers are preferred. No rollers are permitted.) A change of clothing will be required if you participate in two video tapings. Selected riders will be asked to ride our sponsor's trainers and bike, including Kurt Kinetic Fluid Trainers and Spinning Bikes.

Bring a towel, a water bottle, a riser block and your choice of workout nutrition and fluids.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
Please read the following rules and regulations carefully. Your safety is our primary concern.

  1. The organizers and producers of the event maintain the exclusive right to deny any person to participate in a workout for any reason.
  2. Arrive at your designated call time and register, including signing the waiver and model release.
  3. Arrive with your bike and trainer in good working condition.
  4. You must have slick tires. No knobby tires will be allowed.
  5. If you have the option, please bring a fluid or magnetic trainer and not a 'fan' trainer due to the excessive noise these trainers create.
  6. Listen to the instructions of the producers.
  7. Do not walk around on the floor wearing your road cycling shoes and cleats.
  8. Please be respectful of Life Time Fitness property. Non-members may utilize the rest room and locker facilities but are NOT allowed to workout in the club.
  9. Please be courteous to other riders, the production crew and other staff.
  10. At registration, you'll be asked to sign a liability waiver and release that will give us the rights to use your name, image and likeness in the DVD and for marketing purposes.
  11. THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP OR RAIN DATE AND NO REFUNDS. You'll be notified via e-mail in the unanticipated event of a cancellation. You may also e-mail info@spinervals.com or visit www.Spinervals.com for an update regarding the status of the event.


MORE REALLY, SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT STUFF...PLEASE READ!

  1. This, and all Spinervals Workouts, are designed specifically for performance improvement with intervals structured to help cyclists ride longer, faster and stronger. Please be prepared to do structured and focused intervals utilizing varying cadence and other important cycling techniques.
  2. This class will be shot 'live to tape', meaning there will likely be short 'breaks' in order to insure professional video quality. There will be four cameras. Please be energetic and show your enthusiasm and great personality when a camera turns to you! ('HI MOM' is allowed, but try to be original, ok!?)
  3. Cyclists from around the world will train using this video and use it as an educational tool. Please be sure to use 'good form' during the workout, to the best of your ability.
  4. Once the workout starts, 'the show must go on'! In other words, use the restroom before taping starts. And if you have any sort of emergency during the taping, please quickly depart from the workout area. Our director will make sure to have the camera's pointed in other directions.
  5. Hydration is important during a workout of 90-120 minutes. We ask that you start the workout with at least two full waterbottles. To maintain continuity in the workout, we'll likely offer one very short break so that we can refill. Please listen to the director carefully for a smooth transition.
  6. If you have a Heart rate monitor, please wear it. And cyclists who have powermeters on their bikes, we encourage you to bring them too. Coach Troy will walk around the room and try to help everyone gauge training intensity.
  7. During the video taping of the workout, please do not hold lengthy conversations with your neighbors. Have fun and enjoy the training, but due to audio considerations, we'd like for you to be focused on your workout without a bunch of chit chat. If Coach Troy engages you in conversation during the workout, remember that you are 'on the air' at that time and people will hear whatever you have to say unless we edit it out in post production.
  8. Music for the video will be added in post-production. Sorry - there's no music during the workout, but you'll get plenty of great energy from the other riders! Please DO NOT wear your IPod or other headphones.
  9. Coach Troy will specify 'gearing' , if you're on a road or tri bike and 'resistance' if you're riding a SPINNER NXT. Please have a general idea of your gear ratios on your road bike (big ring/small ring, 12 tooth cog, 15 tooth cog, etc.). For the SPINNER NXT, we use a resistance scale from 1 (very low resistance) to 5 (very high resistance). Please do your best to choose gearing or resistance in-line with Coach's commands.
  10. Please bring your bike (in good working order) and your indoor trainer (Preferably a Fluid trainer. Fan or other loud trainers will not be permitted.) Also bring a riser block or something to place your front wheel on and a hand towel. Some athletes will be asked to use a Kinetic trainer instead of their own as Kinetic is a sponsor of the video.
  11. Before your video taping and during your 'call time', you'll be asked to introduce yourself in front of the camera. Please be prepared to say your: Name. What you do for a living. Your fitness or athletic goals. Again, really let your personality shine through!
  12. Please don't give Coach Troy a hard time during the taping. He's very sensitive and his feeling get hurt easily. In particular, please don't bring up his various clothing choices and funny looking hairstyles from the late 1990's and his earlier videos. After the taping, you can make fun of him all you want!
  13. Remember to have FUN!! ONLY several thousand cyclists will watch YOU in this video workout for years to come , so show them what you're made of and your passion for fitness and cycling!!
